Frameset UK Donates Backdrops to Battersea Dogs Home to Provide Calm During New Year's Fireworks

New Year’s fireworks can be a stressful time for the animals at Battersea. Thanks to the backdrops, Battersea provided a calm environment for even their most anxious animals.

Frameset UK donated high-quality fabric previously used for event backdrops, which Battersea’s team of staff and volunteers repurposed into bespoke blackout curtains for over 140 kennels. These curtains were designed to block out the bright flashes of fireworks, reducing stress and ensuring a safer, more peaceful start to 2025 for the dogs in their care. Dogs including Bobo the Yorkie and Mark the Greyhound enjoyed the added comfort.

The custom-made fireworks curtains are easy to reuse for future fireworks seasons. By fully covering the kennel windows, it makes a huge impact for Battersea residents. The curtains are a vital addition, which staff were able to combine with leaving lighting and music on overnight to significantly reduce the stress caused by the fireworks.

Gary Bennett, Director of Frameset UK, said: “We’re thrilled to have helped Battersea to provide a solution that makes such a big difference. Repurposing our fabric to support the dogs in the charity’s care is a fantastic way to give back, making sure the start of 2025 is as calm as possible for Battersea’s furry residents. It really matches our commitment to sustainability and innovation. It’s incredibly rewarding to support such a meaningful community project.”

Louise Goodbody, Team Leader at Battersea, added: “We cannot thank Frameset UK enough for providing and delivering the material. As you can imagine, fireworks season is extremely stressful for any dog, but for those in kennels it is a heightened experience and we always do our very best to try and minimise any distress this may cause.  The fireworks curtains make a huge impact for our residents, and from the staff and dogs within our care we would like to say a huge thank you to Frameset UK for their kind donation and support”.
